Copyright and Schools

30/07/2012

The Rights Industry Forum has launched a new website for schools - www.copyrightandschools.org - which aims to help schools check which copyright permissions are required for different school activities.

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has expressed interest in making the copyright clearance process as seamless for educational establishments as possible, and this website aims to provide information that helps schools take full advantage of copyright material such as books, television, music, films and websites in a clear and visually stimulating way.

The site shows the different activities that a school might want to carry out, and gives details as to where the appropriate licences can be obtained, thereby acting as a 'one-stop-shop' on the web.

The Rights Industry Forum consist of the following organisations:

CCLI, CLA, ERA, MCPS, MPLC, NLA, PPL, PRS for Music and PSVL.
