Alan Smith

Alan joined ALCS in 2002 as Manager of the Print Media Department, where his responsibilities included the receipt of all CLA and overseas PLR income, management the database of members and their book and journal details, administration of the Journals scheme, and management of the author research team.

Following an internal restructuring in 2005, Alan took over responsibility for the newly formed Licensed Works Department, which merged the Broadcast and Print Media functions of ALCS. The Licensed Works team, which consists of eight Coordinators, Senior Coordinators and a Deputy Manager, has responsibility for the receipt, allocation and distribution of all ALCS Audiovisual and Print Media income as well as members’ book, journal, magazine and script details.

Alan is also Chair of the Distributions and Membership Committee, whose function is to review all policies and procedures with regard to the collection and distribution of income, the procurement and processing of data and all matters relating to ALCS membership.

Alan is a graduate in English Studies and has a Masters in Linguistics.
