Who we work with
ALCS works closely with a number of organisations both nationally and internationally to ensure authors’ rights are protected and promoted.
To ensure all potential lines of secondary income are explored and exploited on behalf of writers, we set up the Writers’ Organisations Advisory Group which consists of representatives from the two Writers' Unions (the Society of Authors and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain), the National Union of Journalists, the Personal Managers Association and the Association of Authors' Agents.
Within the UK we also work with other collecting societies e.g. Copyright Licensing Agency, Publishers Licensing Society, Educational Recording Agency and DACS. We also work in partnership with the UK Public Lending Right ensuring PLR fees are collected internationally. We also have close ties with the Royal Society for Literature.
Internationally, we work with the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), The Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) and the European Writers' Congress to ensure our Members' rights are protected across the world.
