Join Alcs

You can join ALCS in one of the following ways:

  • You can complete the membership form online, then print a paper copy, sign it and return it to us.  By law, we require an original signature to enable us to pay any royalties due to you.
  • You can download the membership form, fill it in manually and return it to ALCS.

ALCS has recently changed its membership policy to become single tier. Please

If you have any questions about the registration procedures, or are unsure at any point as to how to proceed, please contact our Membership Services Department who will be happy to assist you.  

ALCS membership is open to all writers and successors to their estates, and before any fees can be distributed these persons must join as an Ordinary (Full) Member.

Ordinary (Full) Membership for a one off lifetime fee of £25, which will be deducted from your account,  gives you:

  • Voting rights at the ALCS Annual General Meeting and for Board elections
  • Three copies of ALCS News per year
  • Royalties paid at the Members’ rate of commission (currently 9.5%)
  • Entitlement to receive payments from the German Public Lending Right scheme 
  • Access to the Members' Area of the website.
    If you are a member of the Society of Authors (SoA) or the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB) you are entitled to join ALCS for free.
