Chaired by John Humphrys, an expert panel addressed the issue of copyright in the digital age, discussing whether it is "Fair Trade or Foul Play".
The recent government review of intellectual property carried out by Andrew Gowers has made copyright an issue at the forefront of policy debate. The event allowed various people of opposing stances to provide their perspective.
The debate sought to find answers to questions such as:
Does copyright suffer from a lack of public legitimacy?
Three hundred years on, is copyright still achieving its original goal?
How has market growth affected authors’ rights?
How can writers best be supported and protected in the digital age?
