600,000 Xbox Live Gamers Disconnected

It is estimated that 600,000 Xbox gamers who have modified their game consoles to play pirated games have been cut off from the Xbox Live service by Microsoft.

There are currently 20 million Xbox Live users, of which Microsoft said they had banned access to a “small percentage” for violating the terms of use. It is reported that gamers can modify their consoles by installing chips and software which allows pirated games to be played.

Microsoft said in a statement that “all consumers should know that piracy is illegal” commenting that the strength of the games industry depends on consumers who support it by “paying for the genuine products”.
