US Department of Justice wants Google settlement reconsidered
The New York Court due to rule on the Google book settlement next month has been told by the US Justice Department that the deal should be rejected “in its current form”.
The settlement is currently raising questions over how much protection it offers to foreign rights holders when, as it currently stands, Google would get sole authority for those works in which a copyright holder cannot be traced.
Google, according to the BBC, in a statement with the Authors Guild and the AAP said they were “considering” the concerns and that they “look forward to addressing them” during the court proceedings.
