Writers' Guild Awards 2009, shortlist announced

The Writers’ Guild have announced the shortlists for its 2009 UK Scriptwriters’ & Video Games Creators Awards.

The awards aim to recognised UK talent from across the audio-visual world, with shortlists for television comedy/light entertainment, best television drama series, best soap/continuing series, best feature film screenplay, best theatre play, best radio drama and best video game (among others).

The event, sponsored by ALCS, along with BBC Writersroom, BBC Talent Rights and H.W Fisher & Company, will take place on November 29th. Two individual awards will also be announced for Lifetime Achievement and Special Contribution to Writing for Children.

The Guild will hold the reception at the Free Word Centre in Clerkenwell and this year are celebrating 50 years as a trade union representing writers of all disciplines, negotiating minimum terms and practice agreements for writers.
