Debate on IP and internet freedom
Striking the Balance Between IP and Internet Freedom is due to take place between key organisations on 11 October in Brussels next week.
Cecile Despringre of the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) confirmed yesterday that she will be attending the debate with Sylvie Forbe from Vivendi, Pirate Party MEP Christian Engström, Marco Pancini of Google and two other pro internet freedom organisations.
Ms Despringre called for people to come along and join the discussion, saying:
“I accepted to join this debate because I fundamentally believe that the ‘balance’ mentioned in the title can be found. The only way for us to achieve any balance though, is through dialogue and debate. The confrontational situation that we have seen over the last year will not help us better remunerate creators or bring more content to the world.”
You can see full details of the debate and how to join on The Internet Society website.
