Small claims sped up for IP rights
A small claims track has been introduced to the Patents County Court (PCC) which will speed up the process for small and medium sized companies to protect their intellectual property.
The small claims track is also supposed to make the process cheaper and easier.
Business Minister Michael Fallon welcomed the news: “ Small firms, whose intellectual property has been infringed, will have today a simpler and easier way to take their cases forward, by writing direct to the judge and setting out the issues.”
Claims going through the small claims track will have a damages restriction of £5,000 to ensure fines are proportionate.
