SoA announce new General Secretary for next year
The Society of Authors (SoA) has announced that Nicola Solomon is to replace current General Secretary Mark le Fanu when he retires next year.
Nicola Solomon of law firm Finers Stephens Innocent has been solicitor to the SoA for over 20 years. Mr le Fanu said that he is delighted that somebody of Ms Solomon’s calibre will succeed him, adding that the Society is very lucky. He said, “Nicola’s knowledge of intellectual property law and her practical and constructive approach to solving problems will be tremendous assets at the Society.”
Ms Solomon is expected to step into the post at the end of March 2011. She expressed her excitement to be taking the role at the Society adding that she believes that Mark le Fanu would be a hard act to follow. She said he “has bequeathed the Society a brilliant staff and an energetic and enthusiastic Management Committee of distinguished authors.”
Chair of the Society’s Management Committee Tom Holland said, “We will miss Mark’s measured and wise guidance and wish him every happiness when he retires in April.” Mr Holland also spoke of his delight at Nicola’s appointment and his anticipation at working closely with her.
