Membership of ALCS

Why become a Member of ALCS?

ALCS has over 87,000 writer Members in the UK and abroad. By joining ALCS you, as a writer, can ensure that you receive a share of any secondary royalties to which you are entitled as well as a range of other benefits.

How much does it cost?

To become an ALCS Member you pay a one-off lifetime fee of £36 (inclusive of  VAT rate). This is deducted from your first royalty payment so you don't even have to pay anything up front. And you won’t pay anything at all if we don't collect any money for you.

What do I get as a Member?

  • Payment twice a year of any money collected on your behalf.

  • Access to the Members' area of this website where you can update your works online to ensure you receive any money due to you.

  • Copies of our e-magazine ALCS News.

  • Entitlement to vote in any elections held to nominate Directors of the ALCS Board.

  • Access to the Members' Room at Barnard's Inn in London.

  • An invitation to the ALCS Annual General Meeting.

I used to imagine that you had a huge spy satellite in the sky and you’d go, “Aha, someone in Tokyo is copying two pages of a Jimmy McGovern script. We’ll have him…”
