Copyright education

As part of ALCS' ongoing commitment to raise awareness of authors' rights, we have carried out various initiatives aimed at educating young people about the importance of copyright. For the last 7 years ALCS has supported the CILIP Carnegie & Greenaway Medals Shadowing Scheme and produced material aimed at educating the shadowers about copyright.

In 2010 ALCS first commissioned the National Schools Partnership to undertake a campaign aimed raising awareness about copyright. The first of these, CopyWrite!, was launched in March 2011. The second, based around the bicentenial of Dickens' birth, was launched in early 2012. The third, based around Shakespeare, will be launched in October 2013.
