We believe writers should be paid wherever their works are used. We make sure you receive the money you’re owed when someone copies or uses your work.
We collect money from around the world, then pay it to our members twice a year. Since 1977, we’ve paid our members more than £700 million.
We represent all types of writers, including novelists, scriptwriters, academics and journalists. If you’re a writer, you may be owed money.
Why you should join ALCS
Advocacy and campaigning
We advocate for authors to have their rights recognised and respected. Our campaigning work involves everything from engagement with Parliament on policy to gaining media coverage for important issues.
Our current areas of focus include artificial intelligence, campaigning for the Smart Fund, a Freelancer Commissioner, and new models of writer remuneration through the Write Share.
