Comedy Women in Print Prize winners announced

The winners of the Comedy Women in Print prize were announced earlier this month, which saw some of the funniest women in literature receive awards for their talents.

As a result of current social restrictions, the Comedy Women in Print (CWIP) prize was announced virtually on 14 September. You can watch the full prize ceremony here. ALCS is proud to be the sponsor of the Published Comic Novel prize, which celebrates funny published novels of more than 85,000 words, written by women.

Judges for the award were Marian Keyes, Lolly Adefope, Pauline McLynn, Joanna Scanlan, Paula Wilcox and last year’s prize winner, Laura Steven.

The winner of this award was Nina Stibbe, for her novel Reasons to be Cheerful. Congratulations Nina!

The judges of praised her novel as “genuinely hilarious, funny on a line-by-line level”, with others saying, “the comedic writing in this book is extraordinary.”

The runner up was Candice Carty-Williams, for Queenie. Congratulations Candice!
