September 2022: Top facts and figures

In September 2022, ALCS paid around 38,000 members a share of over £13million. Here are some of our headline statistics.

We know you’re always interested to hear where the money that ALCS collects comes from. For the September distribution, we collected the highest revenues from Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA), Educational Audiovisual (AV), and Public Lending Right (PLR).

Top takeaways from the September distribution

£13,036,339 was paid to more than 38,000 of our members for the following:

  • 41,638 books
  • 183 articles
  • 19,160 TV programmes
  • 1,898,044 minutes of transmissions

 

The highest earners when it comes to TV are Hollyoaks, followed by Doctors, EastEnders, Holby City and Father Ted. The Archers was the top earning radio programme.

 

Our members in the UK received the most payments, with their portion totalling £11,192,600.12, followed by members in the USA and Australia.

 

Over 4,000 members received a share of £298,104, thanks to more than 1.5 million images claimed for in nearly 25,000 books, magazines and journals.

Don’t forget, there are two deadlines coming up to claim for certain works:

  • 30 November – add your latest article and journal submissions to your ALCS account
  • 31 December – claim for visual contributions you have made to books, magazines and journals
