Voting now open for Board elections and AGM resolutions
Voting is now underway for two vacancies on the ALCS Board, as well as advance voting on AGM agenda items.
All ALCS members are entitled to cast their vote in both the elections for two new Non-Executive Directors on the ALCS Board, and on four other agenda items to be confirmed at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. Make sure you have your say!
You can cast your vote on the election portal. Our elections are administered by Civica Election Services, check your inbox for an email from alcs.voting@cesvotes.com, which contains instructions on how to cast your vote. Voting for the new Directors closes at noon on 17 November, voting on agenda items closes at noon on 24 November.
This year, there are two vacancies on the ALCS Board. One post for a member with experience of digital technologies, and post for a member with experience of writing and creating content for the audiovisual sector. All candidates are ALCS members possessing the requisite skills and experience, who nominated themselves with the support of four other ALCS members.
Your vote is vitally important, as it helps ensure that the values of our membership are represented. The Board is responsible for the organisation’s financial health, its activities and for setting the strategic direction of ALCS. Responsibilities of a Non-Executive Director include:
- Giving direction on all aspects of ALCS’s strategy and policy and for developing long-term strategic plans and policy objectives for the Chief Executive and staff to implement.
- Setting the Company’s values and standards and ensuring that its obligations to its stakeholders and others are understood and met.
- Ensuring that the necessary financial and personnel resources are at an appropriate level for the Company to meet its objectives.
- Ensuring ALCS operates within a framework of prudent and effective controls which enable risk to be assessed and managed as well as ensuring that ALCS operates within the limit of its Articles of Association and in accordance with any other condition relating to the use of Members’ funds.
- Being accountable for all the decisions made by the Board in accordance with ALCS’s Scheme of Delegated Authority.
