New ways writers are monetising their work – a panel discussion for members on 23 November

A panel discussion for members being held prior to our AGM on 23 November in Manchester. Chaired by Tony Bradman, the panel features Mark Dawson, Helen McGinn and John Mitchinson from Unbound books.

Prior to the 2017 ALCS AGM, being held at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on 23 November,  Tony Bradman, renowned Children’s author and Chair of ALCS, will be hosting a panel discussion about the different ways that writers are making money from their work in the digital age.

The panelists for this discussion will be:

Mark Dawson 

Mark Dawson is the author of the John Milton and Beatrix Rose books with over 2m downloads worldwide. He is also the founder of the Self Publishing Formula, a resource for writers looking to publish themselves.

 

 

Helen McGinn

Helen McGinn is a drinks expert and international wine judge. She’s the author of The Knackered Mother’s Wine Club, an award-winning wine blog and book and spent almost a decade sourcing wines around the world as a supermarket buyer. She spent most of the next half-decade pregnant. She writes a weekly wine column for the Daily Mail, monthly features for Waitrose Food Magazine and her latest book, Teetotal Tipples, was published in December. Awards for her wine blog include Fortnum & Mason’s Online Drink Writer of the Year, Red Magazine’s Best Blogger and BritMums Outstanding Blog Award. Her desert island wine would be a bottle of 1988 vintage champagne. Her desert island dish would not be left-over fish fingers.

 

 

Xander Cansell 

Head of Digital for Unbound (www.unbound.com), a crowdfunding publisher which offers a new way for authors and readers to connect. Having previously run a bookshop, worked as a researcher for BBC Radio 4, and been a web developer, Xander has been with Unbound since 2010.
